Czech Republic Expresses Interest in Nigeria’s Oil, Gas

Czech Republic has undertaken talks with Nigeria to improve its access to the country’s oil and gas resources.
Amb. Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, stated this in a statement issued on Monday during a bilateral meeting with Jozef Sileka, Czech Republic Minister of Trade.
He stated that the conversations centred on the Czech Republic’s desire to develop a government-to-government commercial deal with Nigeria in order to improve their access to oil and gas resources through new partnerships and suppliers.
Aduda informed the Czech official of Nigeria’s willingness to participate and suggested that they file a formal request describing their needs through the Czech embassy in Nigeria.
He emphasised Nigeria’s dedication to exploring collaborative opportunities, promoting sustainability, and ensuring its energy security.
The bilateral meeting took place on the margins of the Global Energy Show in Calgary, Canada, and the discussions focused on energy safety, affordability, security, and sustainability throughout the value chain.
Aduda underlined Nigeria’s desire to engage, stressing the growing number of Nigerian expats currently working in the province’s oil and gas industry.
He stressed Nigeria’s interest in increasing capacity and adopting carbon capture and storage technology.
Aduda told the Nigerian Business Community in Alberta, Canada, that Nigeria was an appealing investment location during the worldwide move away from carbon-based energy.
He reassured the international world that Nigeria was ready for business, highlighting the recent reduction of downstream petroleum subsidies.
Aduda also mentioned the Midstream Gas Infrastructure Fund and a N250 billion Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Intervention Fund for gas expansion and domestication activities.
Aduda addressed Nigeria’s worries about the volatility and unpredictability in oil prices as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at a ministerial panel discussion.
He emphasised the significance of having a secure and dependable energy supply in order to support economic growth and fulfil Nigeria’s fast rising population’s energy demands.
