Petroleum Ministers Seek Ministry Support For Tinubu’s Agenda

Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), and Ekperikpe Ekpo, a counterpart, have exhorted the personnel of the ministry to enlist their assistance in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
At a town hall gathering in Abuja, the pair underlined the need to change the way people view the oil and gas industry.
In a statement released by Oluwakemi Ogunmakinwa, Deputy Director/Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, on Wednesday, Lokpobiri underlined the ministry’s crucial position in Nigeria’s survival and the necessity of good performance to solve the difficulties facing the country.
In order to advance transformation and increase investments in the oil and gas sector, he added, it was strategically important for the ministry to have two ministers.
He acknowledged the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA 2021) as a helpful tool and told the workers that their cooperation would enable the president’s instruction to be carried out.
He said that the Port Harcourt Refinery contractors told them during their most recent visit that the first phase of the refinery’s rehabilitation would be finished by December 2023.
Lokpobiri also stated a desire to work with local stakeholders to stop pipeline and oil theft.
Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), also emphasised the importance of the ministry to Nigeria’s economic development and challenged the personnel to use their skills to carry out their responsibilities.
For the benefit of the country, he went on to further describe their shared goal of increasing domestic gas penetration, including compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Amb. Gabriel Aduda expressed confidence in the staff’s capacity to carry out the ministers’ directives.
He cited projects like supplying staff buses to simplify commuting and upgrading them to run on compressed natural gas to address environmental concerns.
Aduda argued in favour of utilising the ministers’ expertise to develop the field and made preparations for frequent meetings to improve communication and teamwork within the ministry.
Directors and employees from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources attended the lively town hall meeting, demonstrating the ministry’s commitment to openness, teamwork, and administration’s goals.
