Abia State set to pay N70,000 Minimum Wage in October

The Abia State Government has announced plans to begin the payment of the new N70,000 minimum wage from October. Prince Okey Kanu, Abia State’s Commissioner for Information, made this announcement during a press briefing on Monday, following the weekly Executive Council meeting, which was chaired by Governor Alex Otti. Kanu emphasized that this move is in line with Governor Otti’s earlier promise to improve the welfare of state workers.
The commissioner confirmed that the new wage structure will apply to all categories of workers in the state. In a related development, the state government has outlined plans to enhance the administration of justice by constructing 17 new court halls, one in each of the 17 local government areas of Abia. According to Kanu, this is aimed at ensuring that the judicial process in the state remains efficient and unhindered.

Additionally, the commissioner announced that the state Ministry of Health will organize a free medical outreach in Ugwunnagbo next week as part of its healthcare initiatives.
