Flood: Peter Obi reacts as properties worth millions destroy in Borno

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s LP presidential candidate for the general elections of 2023, has expressed his profound regret over the deaths and disruptions caused by the flood that devastated Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Obi expressed that it was devastating to consider the broken homes, the livelihoods that have been destroyed, and the families that have lost a loved one or been split apart.
He said that he could only comprehend the anguish and agony that the people of Maiduguri are currently going through.
My thoughts and prayers are with them, and I hope that they find the strength and resilience to get through this difficult time,” he said in a statement posted on his X handle.
The previous governor of Anambra stated that “we must support each other” throughout difficult times as a country.
He urged the federal and state governments to take all appropriate action to assist and relieve the victims of the natural tragedy.
“We need to work together to rebuild and restore the communities that have been damaged. May God console and protect the people of Maiduguri, and may He give them the courage and hope they need to face the days ahead,” he added.
