Min. of State for Petroleum full of Praises for NCDMB over Nigerian Oil, Gas Park in Bayelsa

Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has praised the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for the ongoing Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGAPS), which is located in Emeyal, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa.
During an inspection of the NCDMB Power Plant in Elebele Ogbia LGA and the NOGAPS Gas Hub at Polaku in Yenagoa LGA, he made this statement.
The Minister was given a tour of the facilities by Mr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary NCDMB, according to NAN.
“I am impressed with what I am seeing on ground that after the presentation in Abuja by the Executive Secretary, I decided to come see things for myself
He disclosed that the idea of having manufacturing centres close to the oilfields had gained support from the oil and gas industry.
He clarified that applications were already pouring from businesses looking to produce oil and gas inputs, and he promised to help the NCDMB finish the park.
“This will surely create more jobs not only for the oil industry, but for the entire economy for the benefit of the people.
The Executive Secretary claimed that due to the difficult geography and terrain in Bayelsa, as well as frequent flooding, construction generally took longer than expected.
He expressed confidence that the building would be ready for use by the beginning of 2024.
He stated that vendors who had expressed interest were being reviewed by the board.
“You know we still have a similar project in Odukpani in Cross River State; we have to keep track of those who have applied and we are screening them.
“Indeed at the appropriate time, we will allocate to those who will come and set up manufacturing here.”
