Nigerian Airfare Rises by 25%

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, the average Nigeria’s domestic airfare for a single journey rose by 25.51 percent on a month-on-month basis to N123,700 in August 2024 compared to N98,561 in July.
The NBS revealed this in its Transport Fare Watch released on Tuesday.
The data showed that on a year-on-year basis airfare cost climbed by 56.56 percent to N123.700 in August 2024 from N79,011.38 in the corresponding month last yea
the report revealed that Niger State has the highest air transport charges (for specified routes and single journeys) with N129,575.21, followed by Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with N129,442.67. Meanwhile, Zamfara recorded the lowest fare with N102,665.89, followed by Cross River with N120,088.93 as of August 2024.
Recall that the average retail price of Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) increased by 64.58 per cent on a year-on-year basis from N854.32 per litre to N1,406.05 Per litre.
