Oil Workers Union To Disband Due To Member Disengagement

Following a warning from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, that it might force members to start industrial action, disruptions may occur in the distribution of petroleum products.
The threat comes after its members were fired from an oil company, Fedoz Nigeria Limited.
Four of the union’s members joined PENGASSAN, and the company terminated their appointments. The union claimed that this was a violation of the current labor laws, noting that these members were simply exercising their inalienable rights as outlined in Section 40 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution.
Tamuno Dappu, the Port Harcourt Zone Assistant General Secretary of PENGASSAN, made this announcement on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
States in the South-South and South-East are included in the Port Harcourt Zone.
Dappu advised the Association’s chapter chairmen and all branch chainmen to remain on high alert for the impending strike.
