Wike Revokes Land Allocations Of Buhari, Dino Melaye, Others Over Unpaid Fees

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked 762 plots of land in Abuja’s Maitama 1 District due to non-payment of fees for Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O). The affected properties belong to prominent Nigerians, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and several high-profile political figures.

In a move targeting individuals and entities that failed to meet their financial obligations, the FCT Administration (FCTA) disclosed that the revocation is in line with Section 28 of the Land Use Act of 1978. The law permits the withdrawal of land rights from holders who contravene the terms of grant by failing to pay requisite charges.

Among those whose plots were revoked are former Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen, ex-governors Rochas Okorocha, Ben Ayade, and Seriake Dickson, as well as federal lawmakers like Dino Melaye, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Abdul Ningi.

The FCTA further announced a two-week ultimatum for 614 other allottees to settle outstanding bills or risk losing their Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O).
